Tutoring Experience

Over the past 20 years, I've primarily worked as a private, one-to-one maths tutor, tutoring students of all ages and abilities across New Zealand, Australia and the USA. While I often work with top high school maths students, I also regularly work with those who find maths challenging. I am happy to take on any student regardless of their ability. I also have experience tutoring neurodiverse students, including students with autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.

At high school level, I have experience tutoring all exam systems offered in New Zealand, including NCEA, NCEA scholarship, Cambridge, and IB, as well as the American SAT and AP exams. At university level, I have tutored students across a vast range of university papers, spanning maths, statistics, psychology, and computer science.

I frequently work with adult students who need to sit aptitude tests to gain entry into certain job training programs, or take foundation papers before going to University.

Outside of my private work, I have been employed by the University of Auckland Math department to take tutorials and grade papers for first-year math papers. I also previously took group classes for Year 7 and 8 students with EduExperts in Auckland, preparing students for Year 9 school entrance exams. I now take several classes at the Christchurch branch, with a focus on preparing talented students for math competitions, including the Australian Math Competition (AMC), Otago Problem Solving, ICAS, APSMO, and Cantamaths.

Following my time on the NZIMO team, I stayed involved with the New Zealand Olympiad program for several years, grading papers for both the NZ Olympiad program and the Auckland Maths Olympiad. I now coach Olympiad students privately, with a long-term student recently winning a Silver medal at the IMO, and several others winning medals in the New Zealand Math Olympiad.

"Eve is awesome—I'm an adult who wanted to refresh much of the math I took in high school but in many cases didn't feel confident in when I was younger, which has impacted some of my work. It has been such a pleasure learning from Eve and regaining much of my confidence and learning to enjoy math again. Eve is very, very well qualified and has a really deep teaching expertise. I can't recommend Eve enough!" (Jay, Adult student)
